“Vision is not about the direction we’re going in, it’s about the height at which we’re traveling. Everything about being in Christ is about elevation. We must live from a place above our circumstances.”

Sometimes He offends our mind to reveal our heart.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 8:38-39Thanks Dad for Your Love.
House is cleaned and ready for tomorrow. My mom, God bless that woman, did the cooking and the ironing. Now for a shower, pajamas, hot tea, my bed, and a movie with the hubbs, last stuff on the list of missions for the day. Thank You Lord for the rain!
Just because I work incredible good out of unspeakable tragedies doesn’t mean I orchestrate the tragedies. Don’t ever assume that my using something means I caused it or that I need it to accomplish my purposes. That will only lead you to false notions about me. Grace doesn’t depend on suffering to exist, but where there is suffering you will find grace in many facets and colors.
Your testimony is not what God once did in your life years ago. Your testimony is who God is in your life all the time.
Sensitivity training
I hate the f*-word. I really do. Really. I feel visually molested, like porn just got shoved in front of my eyes, and I feel verbally assaulted. I pray I never get back to a point where I am desensitized so much that I feel that it’s okay. It’s demoralizing. It’s not that I haven’t been there before, living my life with no regard to anyone else’s sensitivities. I have. And I’m not seeking a position of self-righteousness. It’s just that the word, like smelling drugs, or porn, makes me feel physically sick inside. I suppose it reminds me of the hellish things that are made to seem insignificant, harmless and casual, as they were made to me. My heart goes out to those who believe that those “harmless” things have no lasting effect. They do. Unless we change our minds about the effect of the prevalent culture, and choose not to conform and be molded into this world’s image, we will be enticed and drawn further and further away from The One in Whose image we were truly made.

Purity by Ray Hughes
Purity
I was recently asked, “How have I remained pure after all these years of ministry? What is my secret?” I tried to give an honest and appropriate answer, and maybe I did, but here is another attempt, just in case I didn’t. I’m not sure that I have remained pure.
I think I have simply chosen my impurities more wisely than others. While some have chosen adultery, lying, and embezzling, I have chosen disappointment, sadness, and pain. Both scenarios, be it selfish sin or selfish sympathy, are thieves of purity. I believe our greatest weapon against impurity is honest and open disclosure and repentance.
I guess impurities must come in different forms, levels, and potency factors these days. We seem to be able to categorize them according to cultural views and personal preferences. It’s easy to see the harsh consequences of the “big, bold, dark, ugly impurities” and overlook the ever-present subtle poisons that tend to rob us of the joys of daily life. Maybe after forty years in ministry I’m just feeling a bit cranky, but I have come to the conclusion that my impurities are consistently connected to my inability to overlook the actions of stupid people. The operative word is “overlook,” which is something I have failed to do effectively. So, I’m committing to no longer harboring disappointment, sadness and pain. They come often enough as visitors through common occurrences in life. I will see them as the thieves that they are. No need to give them a room. I also choose to allow stupid people to be who they have chosen to be. I choose to overlook, which indicates the act of looking over or beyond. For after all, purity is about our choices not someone else’s… Just sayin’.
Matthew 5:8 says: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
